CENPCT Governance
The Centre’s governance model comprises of a panel of Leadership, a Research Committee, and a Science and Impact Advisory Board.
Leadership
-
Professor Brendan Wintle
CENTRE DIRECTOR
—Wintle (UoM) is an acknowledged and highly cited research leader in the field of modelling and quantitative ecology in support of policy. Having founded Australia’s newly-launched Biodiversity Council, he is also Director of the Melbourne Biodiversity Institute, the University of Melbourne’s focal point for biodiversity research, engagement, partnership and impact.
While known for translational impact, Wintle importantly has led large, high-impact research consortia, including six years as Director of the $60M NESP Threatened Species Recovery Hub. His approach is characterised by thought leadership specifically toward policy transformation and public motivation; shaping impact towards the contemporary political context.
Wintle carries this background into his Directorship of CENPCT: overseeing all operations, relationships and research direction. In collaboration with Deputy Directors, Theme Leaders and the Advisory Board, Wintle is dedicated to fostering centre cohesion, esprit de corp, engagement, and ultimately strong, creative, and regenerative outcomes for ecosystems, biodiversity, and the climate - including people.
